My life of travelling

Im william Coughlin, from the north west of the united Kingdom, and i am married to a filipina girl. In 1992, i began travelling the world to may exotic countries, which includes austrilia. The first time i went on aeroplane was to malta for a weeks vaction in the month of may. After returning from malta in may 1994, i became very obcessed with flying and also going to different places over the world. In 1993, i went down under for two weeks to sydney, were i went to see the opera house, and the other sights of the city. In 1997, i also visited sydney again, for a short time were i went over to the island of fiji for a week. Since leaving fiji, i have been to many other exotic destinations all over the world. This includes many of the pacific isalnds, america, and the list goes on very much. In this list i have had some very bad experiences of travelling as well as good ones as well. My worst experience of travelling was in late 1999 when i was in the philippines, were i was in manila. After arriving at the swagamn hotel in manila, whilst having a drink of beer, there was suddenly an explosion which caused the whole of the hotel to shake vey much. It was not till a few seconds later, that i had relised what had happened. When the bomb went off it really shoke the whole of the building and causing all the glass in the building next door to smash, and also the noise was was very loud. After the explosion i went outside the building and beldam was unfolding. There was many cars, ambulances, police, and bomb squads appearing. After a few minutes the World television appeared outside the hotel. I was interviewed by the TV company. What was quite remarkable is that on the sunday morning back in the UK, many of my friends were having there breakfast, when i appeared on the UK televison were many people were very surprised to see me on there TV sets. That evening i went to my friends house in Manila after the explosion, and wondered to myself how close to death i escaped. If it was not for the buliding it might of been a different story. To this day now i always remember about this incident about how close to death i was. And i pray to god, on how this he saved me from death. There are times when you never know why things happen or dont happen. Another bad expereince of the philippines was in late 2006, when i headed off to the area of mindanao with a girl i met. We stayed there around to go and see her family there in the jungle. After returuning back to angeles city from minadano, i became ill during the evening before i was due to fly back to the UK. The next morning i had to call a doctor from nearby who had to do many tests on me after i had fallen ill. That morning i had to cancel my return ticket back to england as in was very poorly. That evening i had to be rushed into the hospital, after i became very shakey and had many fits as well. Sometthing i learnt from travelling is to never to fall in ill overseas, as the hospitals are not like home. This was to be proved correct. On arrival at the hosptial i was asked if i wanted private or condtions of the locals, and i decided to have a private room. That evening i was transfered to the private room, were the rooms are very basic indeed. During this week i was in the hospital, i experienced very poor food indeed a it was a third world country. But the nurses looked after me so much and could not fault them. The downside to being in hospital was that of the doctor, who we found out was a real crook who tried to corrupt me with the very putting in very big bills for all the medicine, and all the other expenses. It was not for all my friends there in the philippines it could of been much worse. The problem i had there in the hospital was that they did not except the insurance company to them direct the bills. So i had to pay very big amounts of money to be able to leave the hospital when i am better. The good thing that haapened to me after getting better, was that i was given a buisness class seat on the airline to get me home. The experience was very good indeed. But theres a saying in life never get sick overseas as you dont know what will happen to you. Something i may say that were ever in the world you may go, you always find problems of corruption and other things that happen in your life. I always enjoy my travelling, but i still encounter new things along the way, so have fun in what you do, and be safe always. I would like to hear some of your stories.
